One, you've seen before, is at Jamestown,... [Lire la suite]

§§- 7.5cm M1909 ou M1911 Turc au Pakistan

De la part de Charlie Clelland Hi Bernard,   I found this on the Web a while ago but forgot to report it.   It's a Turkish Krupp 75mm gun at the National Museum at Lahore, Pakistan. Probably captured in Mesopotamia in 1917 by Indian troops. It's a later version of the Krupp 75mm, an M09 or M11 - it has the later slide breech like an FK 96 rather than the screw operated slide breech of the M03 model. §§- Obusier Belge de 15cm Krupp / FRC à Bruxelles

De la part de Chralie Clelland et Lieven DeKoninck Hi Bernard,   I notice you had added a 12cm Belgian fortress gun to the blog recently. By chance I have an image of the plaque inside the carriage - it says the Krupp/FRC gun is 15cm (attached). The 15cm Krupp/FRC howitzer is on the background of your image of the "12cm" gun.   The barrel was cast in Liege in 1895.   Image credit - Lieven de Coninck   Regards,   Charlie Fiche détaillée... §§- Obusier Belge de 15cm Krupp / FRC à Enoggera, Australie

De la part de Charlie Clelland Hi Bernard,   This Belgian howitzer is one of the most historically significant in Australia. During the night of July 22-23 1916 Australian troops attacked German positions around the village of Pozieres. Over the next 2 weeks of the battle Australian troops suffered more than 16,000 casualties. In the early advance into Pozieres, 3 German howitzers which had been damaged by the initial barrage were found - these howitzers were 15cm ex-Belgian Krupp/FRC 15cm. The 3 damaged howitzers were...
