§§- Canon Turc de 75mm M09 à Clare, SA, Australie

De la part de Charlie Clelland :

Hi Bernard,

The Ottoman Army received a fairly large number of 7.5cm Krupp export guns. There's a bit of disagreement about how many guns but the following list is thought to be mostly correct:

(The years are the order date - usually the guns were received and accepted within two years of the order)

  • 1903 - 96 M03 ?/30
  • 1905 - 462 M03 L/30
  • 1910 - 90 M09 L/30
  • 1911 - 88 M11 L/30
  • 1914 - 54 (probably Brazilian order guns seized by the German Army - the Bulgarians were given some as well)
  • 1917? - 50? - given to the Ottomans after the surrender of Romania to the Central Powers.

First 75mm Krupp gun you don't have in your database:

Serial - #585, accepted 1910, captured by the Australian Light Horse, allocated to Clare, South Australia in 1920.

Currently in the 9th Light Horse memorial at -33.8367265, 138.614803,

181 Horrocks Highway, Clare.

From the 1910 order -  these guns had the "Ottoman Coat of Arms" (I don't know about the 1911 order guns).

Had the same breech opening mechanism as the 7.7cm FK 96 n.A rather than the older screw mechanism. Unusually it has axle tree seats - most of the ottoman guns didn't have these.
